I’m taking on the Budgie Bolt run in honor of my dad!
This year I’m proud to be running for my dad who has suffered for 7 years with a debilitating disability due to a horrible accident in 2019.
Every year throughout Australia, thousands of people with complex and permanent physical disabilities are being left behind in places like aged care, rehabilitation centres and institutional homes. My dad is one of these people who is now living in a care home in England, where he’s originally from, because the Australian services couldn’t offer him enough help.
It’s my goal to spread more awareness, and to get help, for people like my dad, who suffer in silence in a world that doesn’t cater for them.
I have a body that works in all the ways many people dream and wish theirs could, so it’s my job to ensure I make the most of it for them and in honour of them, and I hope any of you reading this do the same 🤍
