I’m taking on the Munga-Thirri Simpson Desert Challenge for Youngcare

For nine incredible days, I'll be taking on the adventure of a lifetime, where I'll be taken out of my comfort zone, to raise much needed funds and awareness for young people with complex and permanent physical disabilities.

Did you know that thousands of young people with complex physical disabilities are being left behind in inappropriate housing or instutions? It's simply because there has been nowhere else for them to go.

Youngcare is fighting for freedom, dignity and choice for young people with complex and permanent physical disabilities to choose where they live, who they live with, and how they live their lives.

From Sand to Strength: My Simpson Desert Adventure for a Cause

I’m excited to announce my goal and commitment to trek 230km across Australia’s Simpson Desert. On May 22nd, 2025, I will join a group of dedicated trekkers on a nine-day, nine-night journey by foot through this vast, sunburnt land. Our mission? To raise awareness and essential funds for young people living with complex physical disabilities.

Youngcare, a non-profit organization, is devoted to empowering these individuals to live the kind of normal life that many of us take for granted. While spending nine days and nights without luxuries—no toilets, no showers—might seem tough, it pales in comparison to the daily challenges faced by those we aim to support.

Working in a School for Special Purposes (SSP), I’ve had the privilege of interacting with children whose lives are marked by complexity and hardship, rather than just disability. This trek is my way of stepping into their shoes, even if only for a short time, to help make a meaningful difference in their lives.

I hope you’ll be inspired to join me on this adventure by supporting my trek and contributing to this important cause. Together, we can help create change and improve the lives of those who need it most.
