I’m taking on the Simpson Desert Challenge for Youngcare
In May of 2020 I was involved in a car accident which left me with a chronic illness (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). I realised that the outcome could have been very different . Being young and spending the last 2 years in an out of hospital and being treated in our health care system, I have become acutely aware that long term care options for young people with illnesses/disabilities are extremely limited. I want to raise the profile of the amazing work that Youngcare do, raise funds to provide dignified choices to young people with disabilities and to physically challenge myself.
For nine incredible days, I'll be taking on the adventure of a lifetime, where I'll be taken out of my comfort zone (think no phone coverage for 9 days, walking over 225km in total and 5 million flies😊), to raise much needed funds and awareness for young people with physical disabilities.
Did you know that thousands of young people with high physical support needs are being left behind in places like aged care or institutional homes? It's simply because there has been nowhere else for them to go.
Youngcare is fighting for freedom, dignity and choice for young people with high physical support needs to choose where they live, who they live with, and how they live their lives.

Saturday 25th Feb Yesterday I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity by Obadare to fundraise on hole number 9 at the annual Toowoomba Oil Patch Golf Tournament. We had the best day and spread the word of Youngcare and the amazing work they do whilst fundraising. Thank you to everyone who donated. A massive thank you to Ashtabula, Pizza Capers Toowoomba City and World Gym Toowoomba for donating the raffle prizes, they were thoroughly enjoyed by the winners. Share
