I’m taking on the Munga-Thirri Simpson Desert Challenge for Youngcare
For nine days, I'll be taking on the adventure of a lifetime, where I'll be taken out of my comfort zone, to raise much needed funds and awareness for young people with complex and permanent physical disabilities.
Youngcare is fighting for freedom, dignity and choice for young people with complex and permanent physical disabilities to choose where they live, who they live with, and how they live their lives.
Please donate to my page and show your support. Donations directly support young people with complex physical disabilities!

Why I'm Taking on the Youngcare 2027 Munga-Thirri Simpson Desert Trek
Tuesday 28th JulCrossing one of Australia's most iconic and challenging landscapes will undoubtedly test me in ways I can't yet imagine.
I'm taking on this trek to support Youngcare and help raise vital funds and awareness for young Australians living with permanent physical disabilities.
Before becoming involved with Youngcare, I don't think I truly appreciated the challenges many young people with complex physical disabilities face every day. It's easy to take so many things for granted until you're exposed to a different reality.
As the parent of two able-bodied children, I recognize the privilege my family has. My children have opportunities that many of us simply expect, going to school, playing sport, catching up with friends, and looking ahead to independent futures. I understand that not every family has that experience. While disability hasn't directly impacted my immediate family, that doesn't mean it isn't my responsibility.
Every family deserves hope, support, and the opportunity for their loved ones to live with dignity, independence, and choice. Young people with permanent physical disabilities deserve homes designed to their needs, access to appropriate care, and the chance to build fulfilling lives within their communities.
Youngcare works tirelessly to create real change by providing housing solutions, grants, and support that help young people with high care needs live where and how they choose. They also advocate for lasting improvements to ensure these Australians aren't forgotten.
Taking on the Munga-Thirri Simpson Desert Trek feels like a fitting challenge. While I know the discomfort I'll experience is temporary, it's a reminder that meaningful change often requires stepping outside our comfort zones. If enduring 9 difficult days in the desert can help raise awareness, start conversations, and generate funds that improve someone's quality of life, then every blister, every early morning, and every kilometre will be worth it.
